SMBS 1/14/2017

Lesson Title: Dare to Stand Out For God

Supporting Scriptures:

Matthew 5:14-16: “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

Matthew 10:16-17 “Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves. But beware! For you will be handed over to the courts and will be flogged with whips in the synagogues.”

Matthew 22:14- “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

John 17:16-18 “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.”

Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

2 Corinthians 6:17 “Therefore, Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."

Ephesians 5:1 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children”

Ephesians 5:11 “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”

Philippians 2:14 “Do all things without grumbling or disputing that you may be blameless and innocent in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you should shine as lights in the world, holding fast to The Word of life.”

Colossians 3:10 “And you’ve put on the new self, which is being continually renewed in knowledge to become like the Creator.”

2 Timothy 2:22 “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

Hebrews 10:10 “And by that will we have been sanctified and made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.” (Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we have been made Holy and set apart.)

1 John 2:19- “They went out from us, that it would be manifest that they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.”

1 Peter 2:4 “As you come to Him, a living stone rejected by men, but in the sight of God chosen and precious.”

1 Peter 2:5 “You yourselves like living stones are being build up as the spiritual house, to be a Holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

(For Further Reference) 1Peter 2:6-8 “For it stands in scripture: Behold I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame. So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, the stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense. They stumble because they disobey they Word, as they were destined to do.”

1 Peter 2:9-10 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellences of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people.” (Song for Reference- Mali Music “Royalty).

1 Peter 4:1-4: “Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. For you’ve spend enough time doing what pagans and sinners choose to do--living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.”
